Nano Keratin Smoothing System

Ceramic straightning irons have, without a doubt, revolutionised the hair industry, making bad hair days for millions of women a thing of the past. However, technology has developed further and now a new generation of smoothing products have arrived and they are taking hairdressing by storm! Right now there are about half a dozen of these smoothing treatments on the market and they are commonly known as 'Brazillian Blow Dries','Keratin Straightners' or 'Permanent Blow-Dries'. Most of these treatments have been developed in Brazil and contain very low levels of chemicals; some have none at all! We have researched them all and have opted for the 'Nano Keratin System' in our salon.

Nano Keratin works by injecting hydrolised keratin into the hair, along with collagen which pumps up the hair, coupled with silk proteins and high gloss agents which in turn leave even the most chemically damaged hair lustrous, shiny and easy to manage without weighing it down. Keratin is the magic ingredient as it rebuilds the hair shaft, filling in gaps where damage has occured. The majority of the manufacturers of these treatments are quick to point out that they are not a straightening service. Generally speaking they were first designed to reduce frizz and help to make hair more manageable. However, we have since found out that it leaves hair beautifully straight, without looking lank as straightening irons can sometimes do, but with the added bonus being that it can be applied in conjunction with colour. The treatment works best on dry, coloured or chemically damaged hair - the only downside we can see is the actual application time. Depending on hair type and length, it can take up to three hours and so a full consultation and skin test is required prior to the appointment. Once we have decided how long the treatment will take we will be able to quote the price accordingly.

Application:
  • Hair will be shampooed using a specific detoxifying shampoo which removes residue from the hair so that the keratin can be absorbed easily
  • Hair is then rough dried and keratin is applied section by section like a colour tint
  • The treatment is then blow dried in and styled as normal
  • Finally ceramic straightners are used on the hair to effectively 'seal' the treatment in place

Once the hair has been straightened you need to leave it free of hair bands, grips and clips for three days, as they may leave an imprint. You also cannot shampoo your hair for up to 3-4 days.

The results after this treatment are so impressive that this is definitely a treatment that will change the way you do your hair forever!

The effects fade progressively with every wash and so, depending on how often you shampoo your hair, the treatment could last up to 5 months.
